“Many companies have long contended that stress in the home causes productivity loss in the market place… and it does. But research now reveals that stress on the job causes stress at home. In other words, they feed off each other.” Zig Ziglar
In addition to producing a range of materials to support enterprises implementing stress management improvements the HSE guidance now suggests that the appointment of an external provider can be an asset. Vi²dus takes these concepts and provides specifically tailored training for both Managers and Staff mapped to the HSE 6 Standards. This training is predicated upon the principle that everyone must assume responsibility for their own actions and understand the boundaries around professional responsibilities as managers.
While middle managers shoulder a high responsibility in managing work related stress and absence, many feel unprepared or ill equipped for this part of their role. Vi²dus has developed two core training packages:
- Work Well-being in Action for Managers™
- Work Well-being in Action for Staff™
Each one day programme focuses on the needs and strengths of the individuals and the organisation incorporating recent research undertaken by HSE and DWP to provide a relevant and timely learning experience. In each there is specific reference to the role, status, rights and responsibilities attached to each group. The training incorporates practical exercises which help in building the toolkit ‘package’ and development strategies will be offered to participants taking into account the presenting needs and realities of the current workplace situations. The training for managers encompasses further work on team dynamics and improving inter-personal skills.
The Manager’s one day training is supplemented with a follow-up one day workshop providing the opportunity to Managers to bring real themes and issues from their work place to a safe environment thereby providing a valuable resource in demonstrating the efficacy of the training by applying it in context.
